Apple finally announced the iPhone 5 on Wednesday 12 September, with a design which is more thinner and lighter than the previous iPhone models despite the fact that it came in a 4-inch lager display and 4G LTE connectivity.
Apple used the Retina display on the new iPhone 5 and the pixel resolution valued to 1136 X 640. The width of the display remained the same, only the height allowed and one row more for icons on home screen.
One more thing Apple did successfully on the iPhone 5 was including it in the table of the 4G LTE band for faster data speeds. The 4G LTE iPhone 5 will come on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon in the US while AT&T version will go on faster HSPA+ networks where the 4G LTE is not available.
The iPhone 5 arrives 18% thinner than its junior brother, iPhone 4S, and 20% lighter, though taller to facilitate an extra display. The slightly different design added the rear glass panel with aluminum.
Apple built an A6 chip to power the iPhone 5 and the processor promises to twice computing and graphics power.
The camera on the iPhone 5 came with 8MP, but Apple says it has improved the signal processing to lower noise, speed up capture times and enhance low-light performance. A newest feature is the Panorama mode that captures 28MP widescreen image. The front facing camera was improved to 720p.
The battery promises 8 hour 3G talk time and 8 hours of 3G or 4G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing and 225 hours when on standby. You are able to watch 10 hours movie, as well as listening to music for 40 hours before the iPhone 5 battery finally runs.
The connector dock just as the rumor revealed had been reduced from the old 30-pin to the digital “Lightening” dock connector. It is of course incompatible with old accessories, but Apple promised to offer an adapter.
The new iPhone 5 will run on Apple newest mobile Operating system, the iOS 6.
The iPhone 5 color is black and white and the price is based on internal memory options; i.e. the 16GB version goes for $199, the 32 GB sells for $299 while the biggest boy with 64GB models, will be acquired at the rate of $399 each with a 2 year contract. Pre-order begins on September 14, while the iPhone 5 starts shipping on September 21.
