It’s about a week now, Eric Schmidt of Google announced during Motorola’s display event that Android activations had surpassed 480 million; he also said that there were 1.3 million daily activations of new Android devices.
Hugo Barra, the director of product for Android yesterday confirmed that the Android platform has gone over 500 million mark. This mark is revealing that about 20 million new Android devices have been purchased in just this past six days, or approximately 3.3 million per day.
It seems Eric Schmidt’s data was outdated as at the time he released it, but the growth rate is rising in a triple manner. And that’s even before the new launches that are waiting in the next couple of months (Line ups from Motorola, Galaxy Note II, HTC’s releases etc.)
The Android platform is just as good as its shape, but we await it continuous dominance once the highly expected Windows Phone 8 and iOS 6 arrive to the market.
